In a significant move towards electrification, Range Rover has unveiled its first all-electric SUV in the UK, with the starting price set at £154,070. The model, known as the Range Rover Electric, is now available for order, and customers can expect deliveries to commence in 2027. This launch represents a crucial milestone for Jaguar Land Rover as it accelerates its transition to electric vehicles.
The new Range Rover Electric will roll off the production line at the Jaguar Land Rover plant in Solihull, UK. The luxury SUV is equipped with two electric motors capable of delivering up to 550PS and 850Nm of torque, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 60mph in just 4.3 seconds. Under the WLTP testing cycle, the vehicle boasts an impressive driving range of up to 372 miles, highlighting its capability for longer journeys on a single charge.
Central to its performance is the 118.5kWh battery, which supports 800-volt charging infrastructure. This enables the battery to be recharged from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes when optimal charging conditions are met. Such advancements underline the vehicle’s practicality and convenience for daily use as well as longer trips.
Despite its transition to electric power, the Range Rover Electric maintains the brand’s signature luxury and off-road prowess. It features the familiar design aesthetics while incorporating an electric powertrain and enhanced aerodynamic elements. The vehicle’s capacity to wade through water up to 900mm deep further emphasizes its robust off-road capabilities.
The development and testing of the Range Rover Electric have spanned several years, ensuring it meets the high standards expected of the brand. Production will be bolstered by Jaguar Land Rover’s Wolverhampton facility, which is responsible for manufacturing the necessary battery packs and electric drive units, cementing the company’s commitment to sustainable automotive innovation.
