Putin: Western Sanctions Hinder Development of BRICS Nations

by admin477351

President Vladimir Putin has charged that “discriminatory sanctions” imposed by the US and EU are actively hindering the socioeconomic development of the BRICS nations and the world at large. In his remarks ahead of the SCO Summit, Putin framed these measures as a collective problem for the bloc, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

Putin asserted that Russia and China are leading a common stand within BRICS against these coercive economic tactics. He emphasized a shared vision for strengthening the bloc’s resilience and its capacity to address pressing global challenges, free from the constraints of punitive measures imposed by Western powers.

This unified stance is not merely defensive. Putin indicated that the BRICS nations are focused on proactive collaboration, including mobilizing resources for critical infrastructure projects. By working together, they aim to create a development model that is less susceptible to external political and economic pressures.

The issue of sanctions and their impact on emerging economies is expected to be a major topic of discussion at the SCO summit. Putin’s comments set the stage for a broader conversation among member states about building a more equitable global economic system that supports, rather than obstructs, the development of sovereign nations.
